It has been a distinct honor for Phoenix League to administrate and sponsor our inaugural world-championship Ashes event. Over the course of 2023, players qualified for this event via wins in Phoenix League and success in qualifying tournaments.

This year-long competitive circuit produced a level of play in this event that is staggering and enviable. Surviving this tournament is, truly, the greatest test of skill available to an Ashes player, and our Champion is so deserving of their title.

Here are the players who reached the top, and the decks that Ashes’ best players chose to bring to 2023’s World Championship.

As a sign of protest against Beguile, Mark of the Goddess, and the entire Plaid Hat Games institution, Alfred deleted his originally submitted Astrea deck upon completion of the Swiss rounds.

It was reported the following day that he had decisively won a game with Astrea. Legend says that deck is still out there somewhere. Hunting prey. Biding time.

See you all next year in Phoenix League!
